One of the most exiting things of our Panama travel was to drive est from Colon, along the Arriba Caribbean coast. This paved road that arrives to the remote fishermen village of Miramar 100 kilometres later, passes through one of the most unspoiled region of Panama.

Most of the travellers don't go farther than Portobelo, where they go visit the famous ruins of Portobelo Fortress. Other travellers, especially from the city of Panama, arrive till Isla Grande for their Beach holidays. Only very few travellers carry on driving along the road that takes to Miramar many kilometres later. These people are certainly adventurers and nature lovers like us ! This fifty kilometres paved road that separates Isla Grande from Miramar is one of the most exiting drive for people in search of the true aspects of this country, and its natural beauties. The scenery alternates betwen tropical forests and green pastures from a side, and pristine beaches to the other side. Along the road many typical villages will make the trip easier. Nombre De Dios, Viento Frio, Palenque and Miramar are those towns of easy accessibility where to find some restaurants and accommodation, and in particular : Dive centers ! All Arriba Coast, from Colon to El Polvenir, is famous for diving. Miramar is the last village reachable by this paved road, but with the help of an Off-road vehicle will be possible to reach other small villages like Cuango or Palmira on the dirty road. From Miramar is also possible to reach El Polvenir by boat and eventually one of the beautiful islands of San Blas.

Green Tourtle Cay Marina : A pleasant moment was also our visit to Green Tourtle Cay Marina in Nombre De Dios. This is the only marina between Portobelo and San Blas islands. The entry to green tourtle is about 2 kilometres after Nombre De Dios. This marina is located in a wild coast, characterised by pristine beaches and secondary forests. We were captured especially by the wilderness of the place. The road built for the marina gives accessibility to an uninhabited section of the coast otherwise inaccessible to most of the travellers. In green tourtle Cay Marina beach is much evident the remains of the coral reef that gave origins at all this coasts. The beach has a very wild aspect with dead trunks and coconuts shoots all over the place. We enjoyed this beach especially for the nearly total absence of people and its uncontaminated aspect. Was a great pleasure to make a bath in what was like a bathtub inside the sea, created by a depression of the sand betwen two rocks and the shore.
