Costa Rica is one of the most exiting travel destination for nature lovers. This is because Costa Rica is a genuine country, and nature dominates above all. Once there you will forget all the problems of modern life. Costa Rica boasts several national parks, rain forests, active volcanoes, and  beautiful beaches.  La Fortuna de San Carlos is the town where our adventurous travel begins. As soon as we arrive we meet The sociable coatis, always on the street looking for food. There are also some iguanas crossing the roads  in such a speed ! This is a very lovely town, settled in the luxuriant nature and prepared to welcome thousands of tourists. In the town  it is possible to purchase jungle tours, Canopy-tour, Rafting courses, hiking excursions , horseback-riding. It is possible to rent a car or a four wheels motorbike to travel in total liberty, or to just jump on one of the many taxis. La Fortuna de San Carlos is also a town of discrete life, with a good number of shops and restaurants.

 Arenal volcano : Arenal volcano is one of the five active volcanoes in Costa Rica. Sometimes, tourists are so lucky to see small eruptions right from the balcony of their lodges or meanwhile bathing in the natural hot water of a pool. Indeed Costa Rica is also famous for volcanoes and hot-springs. Places like Tabacon Hot Springs or The Springs resort are very well known. To go daily is these luxurious baths is affordable to everybody. Arenal volcano is one of the most visited volcanoes of Costa Rica. The hot springs coming from this volcano are also the most known.

Canopy-tour La Fortuna

In the area of volcano Arenal  there is plenty of rain forests where to hike or do Canopy-tours. An interesting hike  is the Arenal sky-walk : a series of trails and bridges thorough  the rain forest. A place immersed in the nature where to admire wild plants and animals. Manuel Antonio Beach

Manuel Antonio National park : To have a break we can go now to Manuel Antonio on the Pacific coast. This national park is one of the most visited in Costa rica. Pristine beaches and wild animals easy to spot.Groups of Capuchin Monkeys are right on the beach while you swimming ore seat the sun. Manuel Antonio offers a great variety of accommodation and facilities. Resorts and restaurant immersed in the nature of beautiful bay. Manuel Antonio is also a famous place for beach holidays in Costa Rica. On its beach we can find local food stands or handcrafts products as well as bars or sport activities.

 Another beautiful thing to do in la Fortuna de San Carlos is the hike to the Green Lagoon, on the top of Cerro Chato mountain. Cerro Chato is a dormant volcano beside volcano Arenal, in which a small lake has formed. This hike is steep and relatively difficult, but the landscape beauty and the sight you can get from the top will pay you back of the efforts.

Rincon de la vieja : Rincon de la vieja National park is an interesting and unusual place. This national park on the slops of  Rincon de la vieja volcano has many different habitats. Dry habitats with small vegetation, and humid habitats of the rain forest. Another peculiarity of Rincon de la vieja National park is : its volcanic phenomenons. Along one of the trails we can observe hot springs, fumaroles, and mud-pot. In the forest of Rincon de la vieja is easy to see wild animals. We spotted a tapir, a big iguana, and a family of Capuchin monkeys. The hot springs outside the national park is the perfect place to end the visit. A peaceful natural place with hot thermal waters, were to relax the body tired from the hike.

Tamarindo : Tamarindo is another famous place of Costa Rica. A beach town for surfers, and for beach holidays. This region has a dry climate but no poverty of flora and fauna. This illustrated travel in the nature of Costa Rica , is based on what I personally experienced. But Costa Rica is certainly much more than this. All the country is full of National parks , volcanoes, hot-springs ,and wonderful beaches. For a better knowledge of the place I advise everybody  to consult the many books  or websites on the topic.
